Waikawa Garden

With a total home renovation completed, attention was turned to upgrading the rear garden of this Waikawa property. The steep hillside was highly visible from the southern decks and included existing trees and services that needed to be retained. A series of terraces were constructed to create useable lawn areas, vegetable gardens, orchard and shaded spots to take in the stunning views over Queen Charlotte Sound. The garden was designed to be viewed and enjoyed also from the lower decks - a green oasis from the summer heat.

As a holiday home primarily, and in a coastal location, both soft and hard landscape materials were selected for low maintenance requirements and suitability for the changeable conditions.

Hard Landscape Construction: Crafar Crouch Picton

Soft Landscape Implementation: Reform Landscapes, Christchurch
